Things to do
As you enter Rutland, England's smallest county, you'll see the sign 'Multum in Parvo' - 'a lot in a little' there is so much to do here, we promise you won't be disappointed! Whether you're a family looking for fun outdoor activities, an avid cyclist or walker, or simply seeking the beauty of nature and the great outdoors, you'll find no shortage of things to do.
While you are here why not walk to the The Railway Inn a perfect place to stop for a drink after visiting the park or exploring the village of Ketton. On the way drop in to the Rutland Vineyard, to walk the nature trail and visit the tasting barn. The tasting barn has amazing views over the River Welland valley, and while you soak in the view you can enjoy a glass of wine, coffee, cake, or a cheese board.
Around the site there are lots of lovely walks, trails, and pubs, just pop into the campsite shop to ask the staff or look at a copy of the ordnance survey map to plan a route. Wanting to go a little further afield or do a little more here are a few more ideas ....
Rutland Water
Cuckoo Farm Campsite is just 10 minutes from the stunning Rutland Water Reservoir, a 4,200 acre park and nature reserve providing the perfect chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There is a wide range of activities on offer, including bird watching, water sports, fishing, and beautiful parks to explore. There is something for everyone to enjoy including 23 miles of offroad cycle paths, the largest inflatable obstacle course in the UK (Aqua Park Rutland) and Rumble Live an outdoor laser tag centre. No bike no problem you can always hire one from the award-winning Rutland Cycling.
Outdoor Activities
Time spent with your family is special, and there are lots of opportunities to make memories that will last a lifetime in and around Rutland. If water is your thing, then Water sports are available at Rutland Water Reservoir and Adventure Nene. Activities like laser clay pigeon shooting and archery with Rutland Outdoor Pursuits is another great way to get outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Or if you're looking for something a bit more physically or mentally challenging, then an assault course or escape room at the nearby Forest Facility Adventure Centre are sure to be a hit with all the family!
Stately Homes, Castles, Museums, and Gardens
Nestled in the heart of beautiful countryside, Cuckoo Farm Campsite provides easy access to a variety of stunning locations suitable for families. Visitors will find a wide array of stately homes, castles, and gardens, all of which boast breathtaking scenery, beautiful walks, tea rooms and exciting adventure playgrounds. Just 15 minutes' drive away is Burghley House, one of the largest and grandest houses of the 16th Century.

Wet Days
Although we can't control the weather, we have plenty to offer nearby on wet and cold days. If you're looking to explore the area, then the beautiful towns of Stamford and Oakham offer weekly markets and the opportunity to explore charming local shops and antique centres. Then for families with kids looking to let off steam, we're just 20 minutes from Peterborough, where you'll find plenty of activities including Flipout, Safari Soft Play, Inflatanation, the cinema, bowling & more ...
If you are willing to travel a little further then the National Space Centre (50mins) just outside of Leicester is out of this world!
